Tokat, Armenian Plateau
Current Name: Tokat, Turkey


Located on the confluence of the Tokat river and Yesilrimak. Tokat had a sizeable Armenian population that was decimated during the Armenian genocide. 

On May 18, 1915; Armenian notables of Tokat were summoned by Cevded Bey and arrested. On June 18, 1915; 17 clergymen, including the auxiliary bishop Nerses Mgrdichian (nee 1861) and Father Andon Seraydarian were murdered in Tokat's citadel after repeated tortures by the Turks. Subsequently, young men between the age of 14 to 20 were put to death.
