There are countless breeds of the Armenian horse, notable for the Armenian cavalry since antiquity who fought in the Roman, Greek, Persian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Crusades, and Seljuk wars. The Karabakh horse is a particularly sturdy strain, as are many other breeds from the Armenian Highlands of Asia Minor.
