Butterflies of Armenian Hadjin (Turkified Name Saimbeyli): Otto Staudinger

Hadjin is an Armenian town in the Southeast of Turkey. It was the site of a horrendous massacre of Armenians by the Turks and has a bloody past. The local government is now trying to establish tourism based on the wide diversity of butterfly species in the area. Renowned German entymologist Otto Staudinger helped establish research on the Armenian butterflies of Hadjin (Turkified as Saimbeyli) and Adana province.
