Saimbeyli Kültür Sanat ve Kiraz Festivali

Hadjin Saimbeyli is the site of a bloody massacre of the towns entire Armenian population in 1915. As the town seeks to encourage tourism during its Cherry Festival, it is again faced with the horrors of its past. Brutal massacres of the towns Armenians, destruction of the St. Hagop Monastery, and murders of the women and children were followed by a mass expropriation of the towns houses, wealth, and businesses. Many of the cherry trees were once cultivated by the Armenians of Hadjin.

Armenians are seeking a repatriation of the town's Armenian ethnos and a reestablishment of the Armenian population. During your visit, ask to see the Hadjin Blue Butterfly and the ruins of the centuries-old Armenian church.
