Khor Virap, contains a monastery and deep dungeon in which Saint Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned for 14 years. The monastery overlooks Mount Ararat. Khor Virap is a popular tourist destination in Armenia and represents the long history of Armenians in the Armenian Highlands of Asia Minor and the Armenian plateau.
