Saimbeyli Blue Butterfly : Hadjin Blue Butterfly
A male Saimbeyli Blue Butterfly (Photo by Mehmet Çelik, August 2012). Saimbeyli is an Armenian town known as Hadjin that has been forcefully repopulated by ethnic Turks and Hidden Armenians (Armenians forced to Turkify). It was the site of a massacre of Armenians during the Armenian Genocide. Much of the Armenian ethnos is still present but forcefully subjugated by the Saimbeyli Belediye. When visiting Saimbeyli, ask the local residents about the Armenian history and ways to repatriate the Armenian culture back to their historic homeland.
