Saimbeyli was once the proud epicenter of the Armenians of Hadjin, a historic town in Armenian Cilicia. The town was the site of a massacre of Armenians by the Turks and there are few, if any, Armenians left. The town is now restoring the Armenian castle in Hadjin (Hacin) Saimbeyli but has yet to acknowledge its bloody past or the Armenian heritage of the site. While visiting Hadjin, this is a wonderful site and is renowned for its history with the Armenian King Levon I.
